These guys reviewed hundreds of web 2.0 sites by hand and are broken down into various categories. Newsvine won number one site for peer production news. Digg came in at #2 and gabbr.com at #3. There is also an interview with Mike Davidson, the brains behind Newsvine.
Check it out and congrats!
Seems like a slightly older interview, as they have six staff members, with the sixth and latest being Tom. Great to see that Newsvine is still getting acclaim for the wonder that it is, another cheers to TeamVine ~*
Awesome, congratulations... the site definitely deserves it!
Congratulations Mike D. & the rest of the crew... and all you Newsviners too!!
Woohaw! :)
Congrats to Newsvine - the crew here really deserves kudos. Not only have they put together an amazing site, but they've managed to do a phenomenal job marketing and promoting it to the appropriate audience.
As for the interview - it was done about 2-3 weeks before the awards launched.
I like Mike's comment of
. We've tried to distance Newsvine from the term "Web 2.0" from the outset because we saw very early on how misunderstood the term was. We aren't positioning ourselves as any sort of company. We are a news company.
Ironically, they win a Web 2.0 award within a month of being public. Granted, I'm not sure how reputable the company is to be distributing the awards, but still, that's got to count for something.
Yay! Go Newsvine! I'm happy for you guys... and for us. We're helping them build this community.... and we beat the evil diggers!!! (hehe... I'm one of them too) This so cool, no other Web 2.0 community deserved the award more than Newsvine.
Oh btw... any digg/viners on here? Digg my comment saying viners rule.
its really nice to see Newsvine won... CONGRATS!!!
I personally feel that the first position should have been shared between newsvine and digg.. because both of them are exceptional in their own way!!
