my jaw quite literally dropped when i saw my number. up until these earnings were posted, i couldn't afford to use a phonebooth. my previous amount was over double the sum before that, and my most recent number was over 10 times that much.

i... i'll have to look at whatever i submitted. i've gotta find and post more like that.

Between this and my credit card rewards points, I'll soon have enough for a kick-ass digital camera!

I think my participation even went down a little in December when compared to October and September, but from all the traffic ranking services that I've seen (except for Alexa) it appeared that newsvine experienced a rather healthy spike in December.

The earnings definitely reflect that.

Hey, weird. November was when I hit the highest in the Leaderboard I've been due to the coverage of the Wii and PS3 launches, but December is about double the November earnings. Looks like similar things happened with Myk and Dennis; is there anything in particular that happened in December to push the earnings upwards?

Yippeee...Doubled my November earnings. December was the single biggest month for me in earnings. Can't remember how "active" I was in December. Newsvine must be attracting more traffic and bigger advertising revenues. Either that or I'm just SOOOOOO popular!.

Not yet, I had to cash out last month to help pay the bills, but the December pay was most welcome, and it's nice to know there is a little cushion in this account to fall back on. I'm going to try to leave the money in place as long as possible because I need new glasses (my current ones are nearly useless as it is)... and glasses are very expensive for me because I'm so blind (go price some high index lenses, and you'll see).

You might want to check out 39DollarGlasses.com - it's where I ordered my last two pairs since my insurance dropped the vision coverage. They can make them for pretty strong prescriptions too (my astigmatism is awful), though if it's really high it costs a little extra.

Seriously, I swear by that site to anyone who wears glasses.

How is everyone making so much in December? I didn't make that much compared to my other months, and my friend who had 10 articles and seeds enjoyed three times my earnings. Somebody's using a broken algorithm, and I don't like it.

I also earned more. Just a guess but since it seems that most people suddenly earned more-- it might also be due to NV charging more for ads.

I would assume that the number of NV users are increasing at a good clip. If there are many more users-- that should result in a big increase in page views for the site as a whole.

If an ad gets more page views, it should mean that NV can charge more for the same ads. And I believe there's a formula where we get some percentage of the revenues.

More total pageviews site-wide = NV can charge more for ads= more total revenue to be divided up

Another possiblility-- as we gain experience we are better at knowing how to use the site more efficiently. Thus-- we can seed more, write more articles-- or ''better'' ones [higher interest]...

Of course another possibility is that as time goes on...we are getting more and more addicted...and spending more time on the site--therefore generating more activity and more page views... LOL
